About Yi
Yi Consulting was inspired by the concept of Yi Jing (“I Ching” in the western world), also known as Classic of Changes. The concept comes from an ancient influential text providing inspiration to the worlds of religion, psychoanalysis, business, literature and art. Despite its modernisation, Chinese culture is still influenced by its deeply rooted ancient philosophy. During the early Han dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD) a set of poetic commentaries known as the “Ten Wings” (Shi Yi) became permanently attached to the Yi Jing, and the text received imperial sanction as one of the five major Confucian classics. The Chinese character of “Yi” from Yi Jing means change, and the character of “Yi” from Shi Yi means wing. The chosen name “Yi Consulting” is meant to signify growth and positivity through change. About Lin Luo
Lin Luo was born in China and raised in the capital city, Beijing. Like many in her culture, she learned that the most important values in life were honesty, modesty and a good work ethic. Her parents encouraged her to see the world outside China, and so she moved to the Netherlands and earned a Masters in Chemical Engineering from Delft University of Technology and a PhD in Environmental Sciences from Leiden University. She worked for the European Commission with colleagues from more than 30 European countries. Lin’s native language is Mandarin, and she also speaks English (C2), Dutch (C1), Italian (B1) and can speak basic French.
Her experience with the European Commission and living in the Netherlands, has given her a deep understanding of the European business environment, how different cultures work together, and how differences in expectations can hinder the development of business relationships. This understanding, coupled with her deep understanding of Chinese culture, uniquely positions Lin to offer valuable insights to both her Chinese and European clients. Lin’s aim is to help her clients understand the differences and commonalities of east and west so that they may grow and lead change in today’s global business world.
